Advanced site description
Many learned treatises written about the early religions that existed before 3000 BC. But no written evidence of the time their contents can only be a hypothesis. If all the current books have been destroyed, then in the future, archaeologists certainly not be able to understand our religion, relying only on the ruins and graves, left us. God the creator, who worshiped the sacrifice of animals, does not have any archaeological evidence. So, in their arguments, we must confine civilizations, about which we have documentary confirmation letters.
Religion of the Sumerians considered the most ancient religion, the written evidence which we have access, and which turned out to decipher. Hundreds of documents tell of sacrifice to the gods, which took place in the temples of Nippur, Ur and other cities of Sumer. We also know that approximately 2500 BC city churches possessed many lands, and have received information that between priests and the government there was a fierce rivalry. In the Sumerian pantheon of gods, God the creator Enlil was covered by numerous gods. Depraved priests serving these gods, prophesied the fall of Sumer and the conquest of his Semitic tribes in Babylonia.
The Babylonians also had intricate priesthood, temples, and many of the temple servants. The key feature of the priesthood of Babylon was the fact that the priests mostly belong to the king's family, and the High Priest was the king himself. This was probably a reflection of practices that previously had the nomads: the head of the tribe they have played and functions of the priest. Supreme god in Babylon had Anu (match Semitic Ale, 'ancient Elohim and Arabic Allah), but the Babylonians also took over many gods of the conquered Sumerians.
Where the priesthood was a government agency, and even the high priest and king, managed to avoid a war between government and religion, it is possible that the intervention of priests in secular affairs has diminished and the need to support the government, who were appointed by the priests. But, on the other hand, when religion becomes part of state institutions, then the person sought, a true city of God, there is only one option - to leave this state. Abraham was such a man. The Bible tells how he left the city of Ur with his religion, became a state. Abraham decided to go only for God and serve only him.
